Preservation & Resiliency Tour of the Point
July 10th is Newport’s honorary Preservation Day.
Join us and our friends The Preservation Society of Newport County on a tour celebrating Preservation in one of the country’s most intact Revolutionary-era communities. We’ll explore historic Easton’s Point and see how the neighborhood is adapting to the increasing impacts of sea level rise and flooding events. The tour begins with a walk highlighting resiliency planning for NRF’s historic homes, many which witnessed the American Revolution, and concludes with a special behind-the-scenes look at the resiliency study of Hunter House, one of the finest examples of Georgian Colonial architecture from the mid-18th century.
While this tour is free, tickets are limited and we recommend that you register in advance here.
The tour will run at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Know before you go: This tour begins at the corner of Bridge and Third Streets and takes place rain or shine. This tour includes walking over uneven sidewalks.
