Not just fashion history. Fashioning history.
Explore the stories of the innovative, bold, and inspiring women designers featured in the collection of Doris Duke.
The exhibit features over 30 examples of the work of innovative and culturally significant designers including Faie Joyce (American, 1903-1988), Tina Leser (American, 1910-1986), Sybil Connolly (Irish [born Wales], 1921–1998), Mary McFadden (American, 1938–2024), Thea Porter (British [born Israel], 1927–2000), and Madame Grès (French, 1903-1993). These women left an indelible impact on the fashion industry and the way we think about ideas of cultural appreciation, conformity, and style.
