Keeping Rough Point Above Water

130+ Years of Resilience in a Changing Climate

Rough Point’s oceanfront location creates dramatic ocean views, but this also comes with some challenges. Saltwater spray, high winds, driving rain, and increasing storms—accelerated by climate change—all have a significant impact. This exhibit will place the challenges of caring for a historic, coastal building and surrounding landscape in context with broader national and global events—including research and messaging on global warming, energy crises, and conversations about historic preservation.

This exhibition is part of a series of programming celebrating 10 years of Keeping History Above Water, NRF’s initiative advocating for resiliency in the wake of climate change. Learn more about Keeping History Above Water.
