Bring along your dog to visit the elephants at Rough Point before the herd continues their migration. We will have a photo booth for your puppy to pose with their favorite pachyderm.

Who decides how to name a house? And can one name tell a whole house's history? Join us for a panel-led discussion of the naming conventions on historic house properties. As we are uncovering the stories of the lives and lived experiences of past residents, we are also rethinking the process of naming houses—especially when the name on the house does not accurately reflect these stories. We will use examples from NRF’s Preservation Properties to frame the discussion and invite you to join the conversation.

There will be pet-related vendors onsite to peruse and shop.

Stokes’ presentation will offer historical insights and personal reflections on Rhode Island’s 400-year history of racial discrimination and resilience.

On January 27, three piano trios spanning the breadth of the Romantic era will perform at Rough Point: Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio (Op. 70 No. 1), renowned for its haunting Largo movement that evokes a spectral mystery—a nickname coined in the 19th century to capture its otherworldly atmosphere; Cécile Chaminade’s Piano Trio No. 2 (Op. 34), a lyrical gem from a pioneering woman composer of the late 19th century; and Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 1 (Op. 8), a single-movement “Poème” composed at age 19, unfolding with poignant poetic introspection.
