RAIN UPDATE: The 8/19 performances of IN THE WAVES have been cancelled due to rain and high winds. Please join us tomorrow 8/20 at 3 + 4 PM for the next set of scheduled performances.

IN THE WAVES, created by Melissa McGill and curated by Dodie Kazanjian, is a series of live free public art performances this August on the grounds of Rough Point Museum. This inclusive movement based artwork evokes the urgency of rising sea levels and a rapidly changing climate. IN THE WAVES aims to create and uplift community through a shared meaningful experience about these environmental themes that affect us collectively.

Performances are scheduled to occur at 3:00pm and 4:00pm. Registration includes admission to the Grounds & Gardens at Rough Point.

IN THE WAVES is created by artist Melissa McGill, producer and dramaturg Melanie George, and choreographer Davalois Fearon. The project is a collaboration between Art & Newport and Newport Restoration Foundation’s Keeping History Above Water initiative. Visitors invited to interact with the artist, choreographer, and ensemble between performances.

No performances during rain or high winds—cancellations/updates will be posted on NRF website and Veevart.
