For the final performance in our 2022 TGIF series, Salve Regina University’s a capella groups, Mixtapes and Pitches with Attitude, will perform a collection of songs from their repertoire in the Formal Garden. Pack a picnic and bring your friends for a lively evening.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the performance begins at 6:30 p.m. In the event of rain, this program will be held indoors.

Mar Fayos is a jazz vocalist from Barcelona. Her music is described as a mix of jazz fusion creations with Latin, pop, Mediterranean, and soul influences. Mar has just released her first album of original music, Mi Propia Religión.

Watch Lydia Perez and Yoruba 2, an award-winning and nationally recognized traditional music and dance group from Puerto Rico, perform Puerto Rican folk music and other Caribbean rhythms in Rough Point’s Formal Garden.

Visitors can lounge on the grass amongst the blooms in the Formal Garden, or bring blankets, chairs, or pillows to relax. In the event of rain, this event will move indoors to the Great Hall in Rough Point (masks will be required if this program takes place inside).

IN THE WAVES, created by Melissa McGill and curated by Dodie Kazanjian, is a series of live free public art performances this August on the grounds of Rough Point Museum. This inclusive movement based artwork evokes the urgency of rising sea levels and a rapidly changing climate. IN THE WAVES aims to create and uplift community through a shared meaningful experience about these environmental themes that affect us collectively.
Performances are scheduled to occur at 3:00pm and 4:00pm. Registration includes admission to the Grounds & Gardens at Rough Point.
IN THE WAVES is created by artist Melissa McGill, producer and dramaturg Melanie George, and choreographer Davalois Fearon. The project is a collaboration between Art & Newport and Newport Restoration Foundation’s Keeping History Above Water initiative. Visitors invited to interact with the artist, choreographer, and ensemble between performances.
