Energy Efficiency for Old Houses
How to care for your old house, protect Rhode Island's heritage, and help save the planet!
On September 26, NRF offered a half-day workshop called: THE ECONOMICAL HISTORIC HOME: ENERGY EFFICIENCY BASICS FOR THE OLD HOUSE OWNER
Participants learned how to reduce energy consumption without harming either their budget or historic home. Experts provided information and demonstrations on:
• insulation
• assessing & weatherizing the building envelope (walls, doors, roof,)
• wood window repair and restoration
• heating and cooling systems
• retrofitting for renewable energy
• tax credits, rebates, and funding sources
A partnership of Preserve Rhode Island, Historic New England, Newport Restoration Foundation, and Providence Revolving Fund, four of Rhode Island's most experienced preservation organizations.
To be informed of upcoming workshops, to be held around the state including Aquidneck Island, contact Lisa Dady at lisa@newportrestoration.org or 401-324-6090.
