Third Annual Doris Duke Historic Preservation Awards
The Third Annual Doris Duke Historic Preservation Awards were celebrated on September 18, 2009. These annual awards are presented to individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations alike for various achievements of excellence in the field of preservation. The 2009 awards were presented to the Clemens Family for their heroic rescue of Hose Station 8 and the International Yacht Restoration School for their remarkable transformation of the Aquidneck Mill. The celebration was held in a tent on the lawn at Rough Point, Doris Duke's former Newport home. The tent was decorated in a chic black and white theme by David Price. Guests enjoyed a sumtuous French supper provided by Russell Morin Fine Catering.
