Located in a private area of scenic Prescott Farm, the Almy Cory house offers a rural retreat with convenient access to nearby Newport. The house, built circa 1800, offers an excellent example of a rural Federal-style house built for an affluent farmer, combining historic charm with spacious interiors.
Almy Cory is the most recent addition to NRF's collection of over 70 historic homes which it maintains and rents to private tenants. Moved from its original Portsmouth site in 2004 (where is was scheduled to be demolished), the house was carefully restored by NRF's full-time crew. View photos of the restoration process. Completed in October 2008, this remarkable home is now available for rent.
The Almy Cory House has two stories with an unfinished attic and full basement. It has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The exterior of the building is painted wood clapboard, stone foundation and cedar shingle roof. The property has a large rear yard and terrace. The full basement has 7 ½' plus headroom. Access is by bulkhead from the exterior and an interior stairway. Washer and dryer hook ups are provided. Monthly rent is $3,000, plus a $20 fire alarm monitoring fee. A $2,550 non-refundable move-in fee is required in addition to a refundable $3,000 security deposit. View a floor plan of the house.
